How long do we live?
Before you try to answer that question, stop and think; what is living? What do you consider living to be? Do you consider work living? Being inside of a car waiting to arrive somewhere living? watching tv is that living? These things just mentioned are things that take a lot of your life's time. we all usually at work 40 hrs a week, and are in our cars an average 1 month out of a year, and watch tv for about 3 hrs a day' give or take a little; oh, and don't forget sleeping. So, in all of this, when do you live? You wake up, get ready for work, do you consider this part living life? you drive to work are we living yet? you arrive at work, no living here. then drive back home, grab a beer watch the tube, while you sit on a couch. You can't possibly count this part as living, can you? you do that for about 5 hrs before you have to sleep and wake to do it again and wait for the weekend in hopes you will get to live life this time around. there
are 24 hrs in a day, you sleep about 7, commute about 1.5 hrs, work 8hrs. then when you get off, you spend time replenishing the life that was taken from you, in a poor rebellion that no one witnesses but yourself. so, 7 + 8 + 1.5 = 16.5hrs which means you are left with 7.5 hrs to get to live your life. That can't be right you still have to get ready for work, make yourself something to eat, check e-mail, tend to personal business like bills etc. I would have to say out of each working day, at the end you probably have 4 hrs to do what you want. so, out of a working week with no overtime and some good luck you'll get 20 hrs for yourself, thats 50% less of what you gave away to your work place. Your weekends, Saturday we play catch up and sunday we rest, but go to bed early for work the next day. So, with weekends you could easily add up another 16 hrs to your 20, so now you have 36hrs of life; 4 hrs short of the work week. When everything is done we get 36 hrs every week. that means in 365 days you have had a chance to live 1,728 hrs. thats 72 days, wow! thats only 293 short out of all potential chances to live life. In 5 years you get 1 years life experience; even then you'll be 5 days short of a year. In the end we need to ask ourselves "Am I living?" and "How long have I lived?" Smile, remember, you have sick days and paid vacations, Don't forget your retirement, that's the thing you traded your youth for. Funny thing about that is, its kinda like they throw us the left overs of our own lives...
